İYİ Party Spokesperson Zorlu says they will field candidates in all 81 provinces: "This matter is settled for us"

İYİ Party Spokesperson and Head of Media Relations Kürşad Zorlu, speaking at a press conference held at his party's headquarters, stated that there is no connection between the outcome of the CHP congress and their decision to field candidates in all 81 provinces for the local elections, adding, "This matter is a settled issue for us."

Expressing that they are not concerned with the CHP congress, Kürşad Zorlu clarified their decision to field candidates in 81 provinces as follows:

"There is no relationship between the result that will emerge from the congress and our decision. In line with the decision of the General Administrative Board, the İYİ Party will field its candidates in 81 provinces and will provide this leadership in the competition to our nation."

"THERE IS NO COMMUNICATION"

When asked whether the alliance statement made by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu was brought up during the board meeting, Kürşad Zorlu replied, "We did not have such an evaluation. There is no such communication either. This matter is a settled issue for us. We are carrying out our work very seriously and as quickly as possible. We will continue to announce our candidates one after another in the coming days."

Zorlu also said that Meral Akşener will announce the Düzce mayoral candidate on Thursday.

İMAMOĞLU HAD ANNOUNCED

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu said in a statement last month regarding the 2024 local elections, "At the foundation of the healthy alliance we formed in 2019, there was truly an Istanbul alliance. At its core, a great social alliance was formed. I was elected mayor with nearly 55 percent of the vote. My belief that an Istanbul alliance can be established and that political alliances can also negotiate is still full. I think that when the day comes, suitable grounds for reasonable discussions can be formed. This includes Akşener as well."
