Koray Aydın reacts to Meral Akşener's 'Erdoğan meeting'

İYİ Party Ankara MP Koray Aydın has issued a striking call to Meral Akşener, who met with AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan yesterday.

Former İYİ Party leader Meral Akşener met with AKP President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the Presidential Palace yesterday.

While the meeting became the number one item on the political agenda, claims made following the summit also became a topic of discussion.

It was alleged that during the meeting, Akşener made a request to Erdoğan regarding her son. According to the claims, Akşener conveyed her request to Erdoğan for her son, Fatih Akşener, to be appointed as the Ambassador to Paris.

DENIAL FROM İYİ PARTY REGARDING VICE PRESIDENCY CLAIMS

Following the meeting between AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and former İYİ Party leader Meral Akşener, claims that she was offered a "vice presidency" also surfaced yesterday.

İYİ Party officials stated regarding the claims that "no such offer was made to Akşener, and even if it were, she would not accept it."

SHARP REACTION FROM KORAY AYDIN TO AKŞENER

As the repercussions of the meeting continue, a flash statement came from İYİ Party Ankara MP Koray Aydın.

Inviting Akşener to clearly and explicitly explain the subject and content of the meeting, Aydın said, "It is also thought-provoking that the meeting took place at a time when constitutional discussions are being held."

Koray Aydın's post is as follows:

One day has passed since the meeting held at the Palace between the Founding Chair of the İYİ Party, Ms. Meral Akşener, and President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Neither Ms. Akşener nor Mr. Erdoğan has made a statement regarding the subject and content of the meeting.

The public learned about the meeting for the first time not from İYİ Party sources, but from the announcement made by the Presidential Communications Directorate.

While not even a "congratulatory" visit has been made to our newly elected Chairman, Mr. Müsavat Dervişoğlu, Ms. Akşener making the visit with the title of "Former İYİ Party Chair" has made the İYİ Party's corporate identity a direct party to the meeting.

Because Ms. Meral Akşener, beyond being the Founding Chair of the İYİ Party, is still a member of the İYİ Party Founders' Board and therefore a member of the İYİ Party.

The only statement on the subject was a brief assessment made by our Chairman, Mr. Dervişoğlu, upon being asked about the matter during a television program he attended hours after the meeting.

Contrary to the rhetoric of some of our party members who adapted quickly to the process, suggesting that "this meeting will not create discomfort in the İYİ Party base," if a satisfactory explanation regarding its content is not made as soon as possible, this meeting will wound the conscience of millions who have devoted their hearts to the İYİ Party.

If the content of the meeting is not explained in a way that leaves no room for doubt, the perception of "cozying up to the Palace or reaching an agreement with the government" will be tacitly accepted, and this situation will cause a major fracture in the İYİ Party base.

It is also thought-provoking that the meeting took place at a time when constitutional discussions are being held.

The base of the İYİ Party, one of whose most important founding purposes is to stand against the anti-democratic, rent-seeking, impoverishing, and state-hollowing policies of the AKP government and to oppose the one-man regime, will never approve of this meeting.

In the eyes and hearts of the members of the İYİ Party, which is a noble movement of rebellion against the AKP government to defend the rights and laws of the oppressed, those whose rights have been usurped, and those condemned to hunger and misery, photos of reconciliation and softening with the government will never be accepted.

In this context, I invite Ms. Akşener to clearly and explicitly explain the subject and content of the meeting to İYİ Party members and our nation.
