Mansur Yavaş evaluates the cases against İmamoğlu and Kılıçdaroğlu: 'Embarrassing from a legal standpoint'

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş made significant statements at the Republican People's Party's (CHP) 20th Extraordinary Convention.

While the CHP's charter amendments were being discussed at the convention held at the ATO Congressium, Yavaş shared his views regarding the lawsuits filed against Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.

THE CASES ARE POLITICAL

Stating that the cases filed against İmamoğlu and Kılıçdaroğlu are political, Yavaş said the following:

"There is not only the case against İmamoğlu, but also the case filed against Kılıçdaroğlu. I believe these are entirely political. In the previous cases filed against Mr. İmamoğlu, I had told our then-chairman, 'If necessary, let us all resign together and show a reaction.' It is no longer acceptable for the judiciary to interfere in politics. In recent statements, we are hearing remarks that do not befit the law. The very existence of these cases is embarrassing for our legal system. We stand with both İmamoğlu and Kılıçdaroğlu to the end."

A MESSAGE TO THE GOVERNMENT FROM THE CHARTER AMENDMENT CONVENTION

Making statements regarding the convention, Yavaş expressed that the charter amendment in the CHP has created great excitement, saying, "Hopefully, we will come to power. A change is visible. I saw that citizens in Sivas are in a difficult situation and I think they are looking for a solution. Important messages directed at the government will emerge from this charter convention and the program convention that will follow."
