TKH Chair Aysel Tekerek: 'Turkey is at a crossroads'
The Communist Movement of Turkey (TKH) held a press conference at Ulus Square in Ankara, where the First Grand National Assembly was located, with the participation of TKH Chair Aysel Tekerek. Tekerek stated, "Turkey is at a crossroads. A new path must be charted for Turkey. This path will be the path of workers, laborers, patriots, and Republicans."

TKH Chair Aysel Tekerek emphasized in her statement that the Republic in Turkey is being dismantled step by step under the feet of imperialists, monarchists, and bosses, and noted the following:
“There are only two weeks left until the day the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic will be celebrated. However, today there is neither the will nor the intention to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Republic, which was founded 100 years ago against imperialist occupation and the sultanate. Because the Republic is currently underfoot, and a regime of tyranny has been established in our country.
Today, we communists are speaking here from Ulus Square, the square where the First Assembly, which can be seen as the cornerstone of the Republic, is located. The representation and stance that took shape in the First Assembly, which emerged as an alternative to imperialism, occupation, and the sultanate, have vanished into thin air today.
The parliamentary regime in Turkey has been dismantled and replaced by a neo-monarchist Presidential regime. The Republic means that sovereignty belongs to the people, against the sultanate and the monarchy. It is not correct to treat this only as a formal matter. Fundamentally, the Republic in Turkey has been dismantled step by step under the feet of imperialists, monarchists, bigots, and bosses!”
"A NEW REPUBLIC WILL RISE ON THE SHOULDERS OF LABORERS"
Tekerek emphasized that Turkey is at a crossroads and noted the following:
“100 years later, the sides have become clear: On one side are the bosses, religious sects, gangs, cronies, rent-seekers, and imperialists;
On the other side are the workers, laborers, progressives, patriots, and Republicans!
Turkey is at a crossroads. A new path must be charted for Turkey. This path will be the path of workers, laborers, patriots, and Republicans!
A new Republic will rise on the shoulders of workers and laborers!
A new Republic will be the secular socialist Republic of the laborers!
A new Republic is possible only when our country's progressive, patriotic, republican, and laboring people take their own destiny into their own hands. The only power that will pull our country out of the darkness of reactionism and save it from the yoke of imperialism and the dictatorship of capital is the organized power of the laborers. Today, there is no other power besides the organized power of the people to put a stop to this course.
Down with Tyranny, Long Live the Republic!

During the press conference, Abdulhalim Yıldırım on behalf of the TKH Ankara Provincial Organization and Muhammed Çorlu on behalf of the TKH Youth also took the floor and spoke about the struggle of laborers and the youth for a new country and a Socialist Republic.
