The trial of former HDP Diyarbakır Deputy Semra Güzel, who faces up to 15 years in prison on charges of "membership in an armed terrorist organization" following the lifting of her parliamentary immunity, continued in Ankara.

Güzel, whose lawyers were present in the courtroom, attended the hearing via the Audio and Video Information System (SEGBİS) from the Kandıra Women's Closed Prison, where she is being held. The hearing, which was followed by numerous observers, began with the reading of documents added to the case file. Subsequently, the testimony of witnesses was heard.

Witness Songül Bora testified that after she was unable to receive news from her son, she traveled with Semra Güzel from Diyarbakır to Şırnak to see him, and later crossed the Habur border gate to see her son and take photographs.

HEARING ADJOURNED

Presenting his opinion on the interim decision, the prosecutor stated that the defendant's detention was proportionate to her actions and the evidence, and requested that Güzel remain in custody. The court panel ruled for the continuation of Güzel's detention and adjourned the hearing until December 11.
