Trump announces he is dropping 500 million lawsuit
Donald Trump has announced that he is, for now, dropping the 500 million dollar lawsuit he filed against his former lawyer, Michael Cohen.
Trump's spokesperson announced that the former President has temporarily withdrawn the 500 million dollar lawsuit he filed against Cohen, who testified against him in another case.
The spokesperson stated that Trump, who is campaigning to be the Republican Party's presidential nominee while also battling charges in various other cases, is "temporarily pausing his valid claims against Cohen." The spokesperson noted that the former President will continue his fight against those who have launched a "witch hunt" against him and plans to refile the lawsuit at a later date.
Lawyer Michael Cohen also expressed his satisfaction with his former client's decision in a statement, describing the lawsuit as a "retaliatory intimidation tactic."
Asserting that Trump's "cowardly withdrawal from the lawsuit is the end of his attempt to deter truthful testimony," Cohen said he would continue to work with his team to ensure the former President is held accountable for his unlawful actions.
Donald Trump had filed the 500 million dollar lawsuit in April against Michael Cohen, who served as his personal lawyer during the 2016 election period, alleging "multiple breaches of fiduciary duty, unjust enrichment, conversion, and breach of contract."
Cohen is expected to testify next week in another case in New York where Trump is accused of fraud.
