New constitution statement from Yılmaz Tunç: We aim for a constitution purged of its tutelary spirit

Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç, who arrived in Şanlıurfa for a series of visits and inaugurations, first visited the Şanlıurfa Governorship. Welcomed by Governor Hasan Şıldak, Minister Tunç signed the Governorship's Honorary Book and received information regarding the projects being carried out in the city. Minister Tunç then attended the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Şanlıurfa Courthouse Annex Building.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Tunç noted that 15 courthouse buildings were heavily damaged following the earthquake and that work has begun in Malatya and Besni, in addition to the construction in Şanlıurfa. Furthermore, stating that the construction of destroyed prisons is continuing rapidly, Tunç said that 12 prisons were damaged and 12 thousand inmates were transferred to other prisons.

ALERTED AT THE MOMENT OF THE EARTHQUAKE

Stating that 48 thousand 226 decisions were made in administrative courts in the earthquake zone, and that it was decided that 14 thousand 652 buildings were not damaged, leading to the cancellation of demolition orders for these buildings, Tunç said, "From the moment of the earthquake, all institutions of our state went on alert; we launched a great struggle for search and rescue efforts and the subsequent healing of wounds. We are continuing this struggle. Our cabinet's primary priority is to quickly get the earthquake zone back on its feet, place our citizens in permanent housing, and put damaged public buildings into service."

Stating that new courthouses will be built in accordance with local architecture, Minister Tunç expressed that the Şanlıurfa Courthouse Annex Building will consist of 55 thousand 377 square meters of closed area, 35 courtrooms, 132 judge and prosecutor offices, administrative and tax courts, an enforcement office, a judicial support and victim services directorate, probation units, 3 basements, a ground floor, 6 floors, and a total parking capacity for 329 vehicles. He wished for this building, which will be equipped with IT infrastructure, to be beneficial to the justice organization and the people of Şanlıurfa.

LAWYER EXAM ON SEPTEMBER 29

Minister Tunç also emphasized that since 2002, 78 independent courthouse buildings have been replaced with modern buildings, and a total of 366 new justice buildings have been constructed. He also announced that new exam practices have been initiated for law school graduates and that the lawyer exam will be held on September 29.

THIS IS A DEBT WE OWE TO OUR NATION

Stating that the tutelary spirit has been eliminated through partial amendments made to the Constitution, Tunç said, "With the partial amendments we made to our Constitution with the approval of our nation, we eliminated the tutelary spirit. In the second century of Turkey, we aim for a constitution completely purged of its tutelary spirit. This is a debt we owe to our nation, and we hope it will be realized through the consensus of our political parties in the TBMM."
