The BTK blocked access to Instagram on August 2, citing non-compliance with catalog crimes.
While reactions to the Instagram ban have come from the opposition front, a different statement came from New Welfare Party (YRP) Chairman Fatih Erbakan.
Speaking at his party's Monthly Ordinary Provincial Chairmen meeting, Erbakan said that Instagram and other social media platforms are 'under the control of Zionism.'
Offering condolences for Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh, who was assassinated, Erbakan stated, “Our pain is immense; the baby and child-killing terrorist regime has martyred one of the heroes of the Palestinian Cause, the great mujahid Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh, in a treacherous attack. As the entire New Welfare Party community, we extend our deepest condolences to the martyred Ismail Haniyeh. May the Palestinian people and the entire Islamic world be comforted. Martyrdom was fitting for such a man of cause.”
"INSTAGRAM IS UNFORTUNATELY UNDER THE CONTROL OF ZIONISM"
Speaking about the access ban imposed on Instagram, Erbakan continued his speech as follows:
“Instagram; these social media platforms, as we have always said, are unfortunately under the control of Zionism. While they talk about human rights and even animal rights, and make a huge deal out of the death of a whale or a dolphin—and of course, no animal should die—hundreds of thousands of women, children, the elderly, and the disabled are being massacred there. When a reaction is shown against this, they resort to restricting it. We must establish our own social media platforms, just as we must create our own banking and financial systems.”
