Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton stated in a written announcement that a lawsuit has been filed against Media Matters for America, which published a report claiming that X "placed pro-Nazi content next to advertisements on the platform."

Regarding the lawsuit, Paxton said, "We are examining the matter closely to ensure that the public is not being deceived by the schemes of radical left-wing organizations who want nothing more than to restrict freedom by reducing participation in the public square." The Attorney General's office also emphasized that it was extremely concerned by allegations that Media Matters for America "fraudulently manipulated" data on X.

IS X BEING ATTEMPTED TO BE DESTROYED?

According to a report by the Associated Press (AP), X argued in its complaint filed with the federal court in Texas that the NGO in question "knowingly and maliciously" presented advertisements next to hateful posts "as if they were what typical X users experience on the platform."

The company alleged in the report, which it claims Media Matters for America published with the intent to "drive advertisers away from the platform and destroy the X company," that the NGO "manipulated algorithms" on the social media platform to show advertisers' paid posts side-by-side with racist and inflammatory content.

The complaint underscored that the juxtaposition of advertisements and racist posts in the report was "manufactured and extraordinarily rare." In a statement from Media Matters for America, the lawsuit was described as "frivolous." The statement noted that the organization "stands behind" its report and is "confident that it will prevail" in the lawsuit.

Media Matters for America's allegations that "pro-Nazi content and white nationalist hashtags appeared next to advertisements from major companies" had led large corporations such as Apple, Disney, IBM, Lionsgate, Oracle, and Paramount to pause advertising on X.
