Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has launched the first artificial intelligence from his new AI company, xAI.

Musk stated that Grok has real-time access to information from X, the social media platform he purchased for 44 billion dollars a year ago.

Noting that the chatbot enjoys sarcasm and responds with a bit of humor, Musk added that he hopes giving Grok more personality will help it stand out in an increasingly crowded market.

Musk, who said last week that eventually "AI will be able to do everything" and render human work obsolete, founded xAI earlier this year. Despite having been created in just a few months, Musk claims it is a rival to other AI models.

Elon Musk's AI start-up xAI is attempting to challenge OpenAI, Google, and Meta by launching its first AI model.

The team, consisting of engineers who previously worked at Google DeepMind and Microsoft, is racing to catch up with more established competitors like OpenAI, which Musk co-founded in 2015 but left three years later.

xAI stated that Grok's ability to answer mathematical queries or demonstrate logic is similar to OpenAI's GPT-3.5 model, which powered the first version of ChatGPT. However, xAI also acknowledged that it is behind OpenAI, which released its latest GPT-4 model in March.

After completing its trial period, Grok will be available through the app's new "Premium+" service, which costs approximately 16 dollars per month.
