Elon Musk, owner of Tesla, SpaceX, and the social media platform X, spoke to the British national news agency PA Media as part of the AI Safety Summit held in the UK.
Drawing attention to the fact that artificial intelligence is one of the greatest threats, Musk stated, "For the first time, we are facing something that will be smarter than the smartest human."
''ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE WILL BE SMARTER THAN HUMANS''
Stating that while humans are not the fastest or strongest creatures, they are the most intelligent, Musk noted that artificial intelligence will be even smarter.
Emphasizing the need to use artificial intelligence for the benefit of humanity, Musk said, "I think AI is one of the existential risks we face and the most urgent one."
Speaking about the AI Safety Summit, the first event of its kind in the world in the field of AI safety, Musk expressed that the timing of the event was very appropriate.
The event, which holds the distinction of being the first summit held in its field, is taking place at Bletchley Park in the city of Milton Keynes, where Nazi Germany's codes were broken and the foundations for code-breaking computers were laid.
The two-day event will address the use of artificial intelligence for the public good and its associated risks.
