Starlink satellites offer high-speed and reliable internet service directly from space. Reaching 70 countries under SpaceX, led by Elon Musk, Starlink satellites are launched into Earth's orbit via Falcon 9 rockets.
Seeing an incredible increase in the number of users and reaching approximately 13 million people, Starlink is not yet profitable for the company, but it is expected to generate significant returns in the future.
WHEN WILL STARLINK SERVICE COME TO TURKEY?
Starlink was most recently activated in Paraguay. However, users in Turkey are wondering when it will arrive in Turkey.
Regarding this internet infrastructure, which is not yet used in Turkey, Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Ömer Fatih Sayan shared this information via his X account on September 26:
''Our consultation meeting regarding the provision of services via Low Earth Orbit Satellites continues with the participation of our public institutions, their affiliated companies, and representatives of the private sector.
We are evaluating the necessary regulatory process regarding Starlink's request to operate in our country with all actors in our sector.
We will determine the requirements related to the authorization process that will reflect Turkey's sensitivities regarding security, commercial, technical, and financial issues. In every path we take, we prioritize our domestic and national interests above all else.
We will work hand in hand with everyone who wants to accompany and support the roadmap we will draw for the future and progress of our country. We will be pleased to invite companies that comply with the authorization requirements we will establish as a result of the process to our country.
Furthermore, we will support our domestic companies working on low earth orbit satellite systems, such as TÜRKSAT, Plan-S, Hello Space, and Fergani Space Technologies, to the fullest and will stand by them so that these companies can have a global impact. I would like to express my gratitude to all our sector representatives who participated in our consultation meeting for the communication future of our country.''
Starlink had previously postponed the date it would provide service in Turkey to 2023. Later, this date was changed to indefinite, but according to the latest updates, Starlink is expected to launch in Turkey in 2024, provided there are no setbacks.
