Kazakhstan's Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry, Bagdat Musin, spoke at a press conference held within the scope of the "Digital Bridge 2023" forum in Astana.
Musin stated that following meetings with Lauren Dreyer, SpaceX's Vice President for Starlink, who came to Astana to attend the forum, they reached an agreement to provide internet to 2,000 schools in the country's remote rural areas using the Starlink satellite service.
Stating that they will implement the agreement as a pilot project in the first phase, Musin said, "We will connect our 2,000 village schools to high-speed internet via Starlink within the next 6 months."
Musin added that not only teachers and students but also village residents would be able to benefit from Starlink internet.
Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also received Dreyer yesterday and stated that they view SpaceX as a reliable partner in establishing mutually beneficial cooperation.
