We are looking for them; are aliens looking for us too? Here is the answer

There has been growing interest in unidentified flying objects (UFOs) since the Pentagon released its report in 2021.

The report in question includes unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) that appear as anomalous objects in US airspace.

By 2023, we see that NASA has established a board to investigate these reports and has appointed a director for UAP research.

According to information provided by Populer Science Turkey, a newly formed desk at the Pentagon has released footage of mysterious metallic celestial objects. Perhaps most interestingly, David Grusch, a former intelligence officer, testified under oath before the US Congress that he had spoken with approximately 40 people involved in secret programs dealing with crashed UFOs.

Beatriz Villarroel, who works at Stockholm University, writes in an article for The Conversation that she is searching the sky to find physical objects belonging to aliens, and that this activity will one day allow us to see whether we are alone in the galaxy:

Consider this: There are 40 billion Earth-sized planets in the Milky Way galaxy that have the potential to host life.

Humanity's creative intelligence has enabled us to design and launch spacecraft capable of reaching the nearest stars, such as Voyager and Pioneer. By researching innovative propulsion methods like the Breakthrough Starshot program, we have launched initiatives aiming to reach the nearby Alpha Centauri star system in just decades.

Sending a probe might be more economical than sending radio or laser signals if there is no need for haste.

If humans can send probes to another star, why couldn't another civilization send probes to our solar system? Such a probe could reach the main asteroid belt and hide on an asteroid.

Or it could reach Earth and enter our atmosphere. If observed, it would be labeled a “UFO.” A civilization capable of producing and sending probes could send millions of them across our galaxy to conduct exploration missions.

Some might suggest that such vehicles could only exist if they comply with the laws of physics and engineering as we understand them today. However, humanity is a relatively young civilization, and the knowledge we possess is constantly evolving.

While humans have dreamed of flying while looking at the sky for a thousand years, it has only been 120 years since the Wright brothers achieved the first powered flight. This duration is roughly the same as the time that has passed since Albert Einstein published his theory of special relativity.

Is it really that hard to imagine that a civilization hundreds of thousands of years older than ours might have learned more about the laws of physics or gained a bit more skill in engineering?

If a civilization evolves to the point of artificial intelligence, it could survive for millions of years. Accordingly, traveling to a neighboring star and back might be like going for a stroll for them.

However, there are not many astronomers influenced by the US Navy's videos or the government's reports. We need much better data and findings than what has been presented so far. How can we test whether there are probes from space near Earth and whether these can be associated with a possible UFO phenomenon? There are many options available for this.

Analyzing materials from potentially crashed UFOs could provide undeniable evidence. For this, it would be necessary to determine whether the materials in question exhibit unknown or very different manufacturing characteristics using state-of-the-art methods.

Obtaining such unknown samples, if they exist, may not be easy; there are rumors that they are in the hands of private companies. However, the new bill presented could offer a solution to this problem in the US by mandating that all artificial materials belonging to non-human intelligences be handed over to the US government.

Villarroel states that in the projects she leads, they are trying to find non-human artificial objects by looking for short flashes of light in the night sky.

Short flashes usually occur when a flat and highly reflective surface (like a mirror or glass) reflects sunlight. However, these flashes could also come from an artificial object that emits its own light.

Such short flashes sometimes repeat as the object tumbles in its orbit around Earth and follows a straight line. Therefore, satellites often appear in images as repeating light flashes.

It was discovered that historical photographic plates taken before the launch of Sputnik 1 in 1957 contained nine light sources (transient waves) that appeared and disappeared within an hour in a small image and did not fit into astronomical explanations. In some cases, these transient light sources were even aligned, just like short flashes from moving objects.

The most recent finding of this type shows three bright stars in an image dated July 19, 1952 (coincidentally, at the same time as the famous Washington UFOs). These three stars have never been seen again.

Searching for alien probes in the modern sky presents a serious but necessary challenge. In a new research program known as ExoProbe, attempts are being made to find short light flashes from possible alien objects with the help of multiple telescopes.

To verify the reliability of each flash, it must be observed from at least two different telescopes.

Since these telescopes are hundreds of kilometers apart from each other, any light flash originating from an object within our solar system makes it possible to measure the parallax (the apparent change in the position of an object viewed from two different points) and calculate the distance to the object.

The ExoProbe project also filters out light flashes reflected from millions of pieces of space debris and thousands of satellites scattered across the sky using its own methods. By adding a telescope that captures the real-time spectrum (wavelength distribution of light) of objects in a wide field, you can analyze these transient waves before they go off into nothingness and disappear.

Finally, increasing the number of telescopes further improves the accuracy in measuring parallax and determining the object's true three-dimensional position. Furthermore, the goal is to identify a possible alien object and bring it to Earth for further study.

In the approximately 60 years we have left behind in the search for extraterrestrial civilizations, radio waves have not yielded any results so far.

We now find ourselves in a time when new paths must be explored. This means we can finally focus our attention on places closer to us. Whatever the result, this journey is certainly a tribute to our insatiable curiosity.
