Dire Straits frontman Mark Knopfler's guitars sold at auction

The guitars of Mark Knopfler, frontman of the legendary music group Dire Straits, were put up for auction. The guitars fetched a record price of over 308 million liras.

Dire Straits frontman Mark Knopfler's collection of over 120 guitars and amplifiers sold at auction for more than 8 million pounds (approximately 308 million liras).

The lead singer of the British rock band offered a selection of instruments from his 50-year career for sale at Christie's Auction House.

It was stated that Knopfler will distribute 25 percent of the proceeds equally among charities.

Expressing his thoughts, Knopfler stated, "This auction has been an incredible journey, and I am very pleased that these much-loved instruments will find new players and new songs, as well as raising money for charities that mean a lot to me."
