The racket used by Rafael Nadal in the 2007 French Open final against Roger Federer has been sold at auction.

The racket, which secured the championship in the final that Nadal won 3-1 to claim his third career Grand Slam title, found a buyer for 118 thousand dollars at the Prestige Memorabilia's The Tennis Auction.

This racket, used by the Spanish tennis player, was previously housed in the Australian Tennis Museum.

THIRD MOST VALUABLE RACKET

The racket Rafael Nadal used in the 2022 Australian Open was sold for 139 thousand 700 dollars.

Nadal's racket was followed by one used by Billie Jean King, which sold for 125 thousand dollars, placing it in second place.

Following this auction, Nadal's racket from the 2007 French Open final has become the third most valuable racket.

NOT AT THE AUSTRALIAN OPEN

Nadal, who was expected to participate in the Australian Open following a long-term injury, was injured again before the season's first Grand Slam tournament.

After sustaining an injury at the Brisbane International before the tournament, Nadal announced that he would be unable to compete in the Australian Open.

The 37-year-old tennis player is expected to return to the courts at the ATP 250 tournament to be held in Doha in February.
