Being well-groomed is the first rule of feeling good.

In this regard, it is known that men have recently been paying as much, if not more, attention to their skin as women do.

SKINCARE TIPS FOR MEN:

Consider product labels and ingredients: The skincare products you choose should be suitable for your skin type. If you have acne-prone skin, look for cleansers and moisturizers labeled "oil-free" or "non-comedogenic" so they won't clog your pores.

If you have sensitive skin, use mild, "fragrance-free" products, as products containing fragrance can leave the skin feeling irritated and dry. However, even some products labeled as "fragrance-free" may contain masking scents that can irritate your skin.

Wash your face every day and especially after exercising: Since ordinary bar soaps often contain harsh ingredients that can dry out the skin, wash your face with a gentle facial cleanser and lukewarm (not hot) water.

Pay attention to your shaving technique: Some men may be satisfied with multi-blade razors and may shave their skin very frequently. If you frequently encounter razor nicks, razor burn, or ingrown hairs, use a single or double-blade razor instead and do not pull your skin taut while shaving.

Wet your skin and hair before shaving to soften them. Use a moisturizing shaving cream and shave in the direction of hair growth. Rinse the razor after each use and change your blade after five to seven shaves to minimize irritation.

Moisturize your skin daily: Moisturizer works by trapping water in your skin. This can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and help your skin look brighter and younger. For best results, apply moisturizer to your face and body immediately after a bath, shower, or shave while your skin is still damp.

Check your skin regularly: New spots or moles that itch, bleed, or change color are often early warning signs of skin cancer. If you notice any suspicious spots, make an appointment to see a dermatologist.

Men over the age of 50 have a higher risk of developing melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, compared to the general population. However, when caught early, skin cancer is highly treatable.

Always use sunscreen outdoors: To help prevent sun damage that can lead to wrinkles, age spots, and even skin cancer, apply sunscreen to all areas of your skin exposed to the sun, including your scalp, ears, neck, and lips, before going outside.

For the best protection, use a broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher, and reapply every two hours or immediately after swimming or sweating.
