Egyptian President Sisi speaks out on 'ground operation'

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, in his speech at a joint press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron in the capital Cairo, stated, "I discussed with Macron ways to contain the crisis in Gaza and affirmed the importance of working to stop any ground offensive against the Gaza Strip."

Expressing that a ground offensive against Gaza would mean the deaths of more civilians, Sisi said, "I emphasized the necessity of containing the situation in Gaza and not expanding the conflict."

Stressing that humanitarian aid must be delivered rapidly to the blockaded Gaza, Sisi remarked, "Macron understands the dangers of the forced displacement of the population in Gaza."

French President Macron had paid a "solidarity visit" to Israel yesterday before a few-hour visit to Ramallah, where he met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

LATEST SITUATION ON THE ISRAEL-PALESTINE FRONT

The Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, launched a comprehensive attack on Israel on the morning of October 7, dubbed "Al-Aqsa Flood."

The Israeli army also began attacking the Gaza Strip with dozens of fighter jets.

It was reported that 1,400 Israelis, including 308 soldiers, were killed and 5,132 Israelis were wounded in the attacks launched from Gaza.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza announced that 6,546 people, including 2,704 children, 1,584 women, and 364 elderly people, have been killed and 17,439 people have been wounded in Israel's attacks on Gaza.

It was stated that over 100 Palestinians have been killed in attacks by Israeli forces and Jewish settlers in the occupied West Bank.

In the clashes, 24 journalists have lost their lives, including 20 Palestinians, 3 Israelis, and one Lebanese.

In the clashes between the Israeli army and Hezbollah on the Israel-Lebanon border since October 8, 42 Hezbollah members, as well as 6 members of the Islamic Jihad Movement, 3 from Hamas, and 2 members of the Hezbollah-backed Sunni Resistance Brigades were killed, and 4 civilians, one of whom was a journalist, lost their lives.

In attacks launched from the Lebanese side, 3 Israeli soldiers and one Israeli civilian also lost their lives.
