Egyptian President Sisi states Israeli bombardment is blocking humanitarian aid

Egyptian President Sisi states Israeli bombardment is blocking humanitarian aid

The "Cairo Peace Summit," where developments in Gaza will be discussed with the participation of heads of state and government, has begun in Egypt.

Egyptian President Sisi delivered the opening speech of the summit, which is being held in the new administrative capital built east of Cairo.

"THE SOLUTION IS NOT DISPLACING THE PEOPLE TO OTHER REGIONS"

Stating that the solution to the Palestinian issue is not migration, Sisi said, "The solution is not the displacement of an entire people to other regions. On the contrary, the only solution is justice. It is for Palestinians to live in their independent state, with dignity and security, on their own land, where they can determine their future just like other peoples on earth."

Sisi stated that he had agreed with US President Joe Biden to keep the Rafah Border Crossing "continuously" open in coordination with the United Nations (UN) for the entry of aid into Gaza, saying, "We have not closed the Rafah Border Crossing for even a moment, but the Israeli bombardment on the Palestinian side of the border has blocked the passage of humanitarian aid."

Emphasizing that the liquidation of the Palestinian cause at the expense of Egypt will never happen, Sisi condemned the international silence regarding what is happening in the Gaza Strip and the attempts at forced displacement.

"THE WAR AGAINST GAZA MUST STOP IMMEDIATELY"

Speaking at the summit, King Abdullah II of Jordan said that the attacks on Gaza must stop immediately.

King Abdullah II noted the following:

"Our priorities are clear and urgent. First, the war against Gaza must stop immediately. A common stance must be taken in line with shared values and international human rights law regarding the protection of civilians and not targeting them; otherwise, these values lose all their meaning when we apply them to only one side."

The King of Jordan emphasized that humanitarian aid, fuel, food, and medicine must be delivered to the Gaza Strip continuously and without interruption.

Touching upon the issue of the forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza, King Abdullah II stated that they absolutely reject the forced internal and external migration of Palestinians, saying, "This is a war crime under international law and is a red line for all of us."

King Abdullah II of Jordan expressed the following:

"We are talking about the ongoing brutal bombardment in Gaza and the collective punishment of people who are in need of aid and trapped. This is clearly a violation of human rights and a war crime."

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan attended the summit from Turkey.

Among those attending the summit are King Abdullah II of Jordan, Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain, and United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
