US technology giant Google had been sued by Google Cloud executive Ülkü Rowe over allegations of gender discrimination.

The lawsuit alleged that the company paid higher salaries to less experienced male employees and that Rowe was subsequently denied promotions and even demoted for filing complaints both within the company and in court.

According to her claim, the company did not promote Rowe to a vice president position, and this promotion was instead given to a man who had not applied or did not possess the necessary qualifications. The jury found Google guilty in the case and ordered it to pay $1.1 million in compensation to Rowe.
