North Korea speaks on its relations with Russia: 'Baseless and slanderous'

North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui issued a statement regarding the joint condemnation statement by South Korea, the US, and Japan through North Korea's official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

''THERE IS NO REASON''

Noting that no nation has the right to interfere in matters concerning the independence of states, Choe stated that the condemnation in question, which she defined as "baseless criticism and slander against North Korea-Russia relations," is a violation of the United Nations (UN) Charter.

Choe used the expression, "If they have no ill intent toward North Korea and Russia, there would be no reason for them to be uncomfortable or feel tense about developments in the equal and normal relations between the two countries."

It had been reported that the US, South Korea, and Japan strongly condemned North Korea's sale of military equipment and ammunition to Russia "to be used against the Ukrainian government and people."

REFERENCE TO 'MILITARY EQUIPMENT TO RUSSIA'

White House National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby stated on October 13 that North Korea had provided weapons to Russia for use in Ukraine, saying, "Our information indicates that North Korea has provided Russia with more than 1000 containers of military equipment and munitions in recent weeks."

Kirby had conveyed that they believe North Korea, in return for this support, is requesting military aid from Russia, including fighter jets, missiles, armored vehicles, ballistic missile production equipment, and other advanced technologies.
