US statement on explosions in Lebanon

The US Department of State has stated that they had no involvement in the simultaneous detonation of pagers used by Hezbollah members in Lebanon and that they will not be making an assessment regarding who is responsible for the incident.

US Department of State Spokesperson Matthew Miller evaluated the latest developments regarding the detonation of pagers used by Hezbollah members during his daily press briefing.

Miller stated, "I can tell you that the US was not involved in this. The US was not aware of this incident in advance. We are currently gathering information about the incident."

Responding to questions regarding Hezbollah pointing to Israel as the party responsible for the incident, Miller emphasized that the event is still recent and that they are gathering information on how it occurred, saying, "We have no further assessment beyond that at this time."

DETONATION OF PAGERS

Simultaneous explosions occurred in pagers used by Hezbollah members in Lebanon.

The Ministry of Health announced that 9 people, including one child, lost their lives and approximately 2,800 people were injured, about 200 of them critically, as a result of the detonation of pagers used by Hezbollah members across the country.

There has been no statement from Israel regarding the matter yet.

It has been observed that tensions have increased in recent days in the clashes that have been ongoing on the Israel-Lebanon border since October 8, 2023.
