Barış Yarkadaş recounts his conversation with Özgür Özel following his decision to leave the profession

Journalist Barış Yarkadaş had announced in a live broadcast he attended that he would leave his profession if Özgür Özel were elected at the CHP Congress.

Following the congress, all eyes turned to Barış Yarkadaş when Özgür Özel emerged as the winner.

Yarkadaş, keeping the promise he made during the live broadcast of the program where he worked as a commentator, stated that he had left the journalism profession. Özgür Özel had sent a message regarding Yarkadaş's decision and said he would call him.

Barış Yarkadaş moved his conversation with Özgür Özel to his social media account and shared the following:

"Just now, CHP Chairman Mr. Özgür Özel called, and we spoke in detail regarding the tweet he sent last night.

Stating once again that he did not find the decision I made last night correct following my statement on Kübra Par’s program broadcast on TV100 that “I will leave the profession if Özgür Özel wins,” Özel said, “We are brothers… It would upset us all if you left your profession after such a statement.” He expressed the thoughts he had stated in his tweet last night.

Özel also stated that what happened during the congress process remained in the congress hall and in the past.

Upon this, I stated to Özel, “As I expressed in the broadcast on TV100 last night, your attitude honored me. I will rest a little and make a new assessment.”

I expressed to Özel, “I said it last night too. You are now our chairman. First of all, I congratulate you. I am ready to do whatever falls to me for the success of the CHP.”

We also agreed to meet with Özel in Ankara in the coming days.

On this occasion, I congratulate CHP Chairman Özgür Özel and the newly elected Party Assembly (PM) and High Disciplinary Board (YDK) members, and wish them success.

Meanwhile, I would like to thank the hundreds of friends who called, asked, sent messages, and said “Do not ever leave the profession” after last night's broadcast for the trust they have in me, and I ask for a short amount of time from them."
