Investigation continues into the murder of Narin Güran: New evidence reached

The investigation into the murder of 8-year-old Narin Güran, whose body was found in a sack 19 days after she went missing in Diyarbakır, is ongoing.

New evidence was discovered during searches conducted at the home and barn of Nevzat Bahtiyar, who was arrested in connection with the murder, following statements he provided during his interrogation.

Nevzat Bahtiyar, a villager who turned state's witness in the investigation into the death of Narin Güran, claimed that he committed the murder after being threatened by her uncle, Salim Güran.

Following the confessions of Bahtiyar, who was taken from prison to have his statement retaken, searches were conducted at his home and barn by the Gendarmerie Crime Scene Investigation teams.

During these searches, two cigarette butts were found in Bahtiyar's barn. These cigarette butts were sent to the Van Gendarmerie Criminal Laboratory for DNA analysis.

It has been learned that gendarmerie commandos are standing guard at the home and barn of confessor Nevzat Bahtiyar.

Meanwhile, in light of the new information provided by Bahtiyar as part of the ongoing investigation conducted by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it is considered that there may be further detentions in the village.

With the deepening of the investigation, all details regarding the death of Narin Güran are expected to be clarified.
