London Book Fair opens its doors for the 53rd time
The 53rd London Book Fair, one of the most important meeting points for the global publishing and copyright sales industry, has opened with the participation of over 20 publishing houses from Turkey.

In London, the capital of the United Kingdom, the fair is being held for the 53rd time at the Olympia London venue. In addition to the 'Turkey' stand opened under the auspices of the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) stand is also featured.
On the first day of the fair, Turkey's Ambassador to London Osman Koray Ertaş, General Manager of Libraries and Publications of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism Taner Beyoğlu, and Director of the London Yunus Emre Institute (YEE) Mehmet Karakuş visited the stands where Turkish publications are being promoted.
'THERE ARE SPECIAL INCENTIVES'
Pointing out that the London Book Fair is one of the most important in its field, Ertaş stated in his remarks to journalists, "There is a great effort led by our Ministry of Culture and Tourism to open up Turkish publishing to the world. There are special incentives for this. Currently, with the support of our ministry, Turkish literature has spread to different countries around the world in more than 60 languages."
In his statement, General Manager of Libraries and Publications Beyoğlu also said that the London Book Fair is one of the most important fairs that Turkey participates in.
Explaining that nearly 20 publishing houses are representing Turkey, Beyoğlu noted that important meetings regarding copyright trade are also being held at the fair.
Touching upon the support provided to foreign publishing houses for the expansion of Turkish publications to the world, Beyoğlu said, "Within the scope of the Project for Supporting the Opening of Art and Literature Works to the Outside (TEDA) Translation and Publication Support Program, we have provided financial support for the translation of 3 thousand 878 of our books from Turkish into foreign languages in 63 different languages across 89 countries."
Pointing out that English is important for the translation of Turkish books into other languages, Beyoğlu added that for this reason, importance is given to events in English-speaking countries.
The London Book Fair, which will be held from March 12-14 this year, will host 1031 participating companies from approximately 60 countries.
