Throughout the Metropolis excavations, more than 11 thousand historical artifacts have been unearthed, alongside many valuable structures such as the Acropolis, Theater, Agora, Bath Complexes, and the Araplıtepe Church.

The book titled "Metropolis; City, Life, Human," prepared in commemoration of these works surpassing 30 years, was published in the 100th year of the Republic.

The book presents the results of the work carried out in the city to readers in simple language and narrative, based on the traces of the different civilizations that lived there. The product of a 5-year effort, this book consists of 444 pages and 30 different chapters. The book also features contributions from 22 domestic and foreign researchers who are experts in their fields.

'SHEDDING LIGHT ON THE FUTURE'

Güler Sabancı, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Sabancı Foundation, stated, “The geography of Anatolia, which has hosted the oldest civilizations in history, has a unique role for research into human history. The lands we are in offer clues to the past while simultaneously shedding light on today and the future,” and added:

"The excavations of the Ancient City of Metropolis reveal a five-thousand-year heritage extending from the first settlement period of the Late Neolithic Age to the Classical Age, from the Hellenistic Age to the Roman and Byzantine periods, and from the Turkish Beyliks to the Ottoman Empire. As the Sabancı Foundation, we wanted to leave a note in history in memory of this precious city, which has been brought from the past to the present, and we published the book ‘Metropolis; City, Life, Human’ as a project of respect for cultural heritage in the 100th year of our Republic."
