Number of visitors to Cappadocia during the holiday revealed

A total of 243,632 people visited museums and archaeological sites in the Cappadocia region during the 9-day Ramadan Feast holiday.

Cappadocia, which attracts tourists with its valleys covered in fairy chimneys and natural rock formations, historical sites, cultural values, and natural riches, was among the most preferred tourism destinations during the Ramadan Feast holiday.

While hotel occupancy rates across Nevşehir approached 100 percent throughout the holiday period, there was also significant density at museums and archaeological sites.

INTENSE INTEREST IN TOURS

Visitors to the region, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, participated in tours organized with hot air balloons, horses, and off-road vehicles.

According to data from the Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, 243,632 people visited museums and archaeological sites in the region during the 9-day holiday covering April 6-14.

During the holiday, the Zelve Archaeological Site attracted the most visitors with 67,968 people, while the Göreme Open Air Museum hosted 56,851, the Hacı Bektaş Veli Museum hosted 38,250, and the Kaymaklı Underground City hosted 34,174 tourists.

In Cappadocia, the same sites had hosted 73,605 people during the 3-day Ramadan Feast holiday last year.
