Fairy chimneys in Cappadocia are being restored
The Cappadocia Area Presidency has launched restoration work on 4 fairy chimneys around the town of Göreme.
Cappadocia's unique natural wonders, the fairy chimneys, will regain their former glory through restoration work initiated by the Cappadocia Area Presidency.
This project, which covers 4 fairy chimneys, is of great importance for preserving the historical and touristic value of the region.
Cappadocia Area President Birol İnceciköz stated that teams within the Presidency have been conducting research throughout the region and have begun the necessary work following damage analysis of the fairy chimneys where cracks and deformation were detected.
'EMERGENCY SECURITY MEASURES TAKEN'
Stating that expert teams have begun work on four fairy chimneys in the first phase, İnceciköz said:
"We have launched a comprehensive restoration project on the fairy chimneys in the region that required urgent measures. We have carried out project planning using various scientific methods, especially for those fairy chimneys that pose a danger to life and property. As the Cappadocia Area Presidency, similar work will be carried out on 9 other fairy chimneys.
We will continue to carry out these efforts in line with our mission to pass on these natural assets to future generations. Once completed, both local residents and tourists will be able to visit these fairy chimneys comfortably. To eliminate the problems we identified, the teams first took emergency security measures at the fairy chimneys. We have performed reinforcement work on those that were problematic in terms of statics."
