Speaking in response to reactions of "Have you learned nothing from FETÖ?" following the emergence of a cult organization at the Tuzla Infantry School, Aydın Ünal claimed that Kemalism is a religious structure and a cult, and described those raised in Republic schools as a "diseased generation."
Ünal stated, "There is no difference between Kemalism and FETÖ. One was a deviant cult, but is Kemalism any different? This is also a cult, a community. It is not Islamic, but it is a religious structure.
With all its views and organization, this is also a religious structure." The Yeni Şafak columnist added, "They accuse us of being cultists, religious, chasing after sheikhs, being disciples, etc., but they never look at themselves."
CRIMINAL COMPLAINT FROM THE ADD
The Association for Kemalist Thought (ADD) announced that it has filed a criminal complaint regarding the matter. The petition submitted to the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office cited the "Law No. 5816 on Crimes Committed Against Atatürk."
The petition included the following statements:
"With the words uttered by a former member of parliament who served in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, a bloodthirsty terrorist organization has been placed in the same category as Gazi Mustafa Kemal ATATÜRK and his comrades-in-arms, and those who founded the Republic of Turkey and the citizens who keep its founding achievements alive have been evaluated as members of a terrorist organization.
The education system was cited as being responsible for this, and modern teachers and students were targeted. In this state, it is necessary to conduct an investigation into the person who made this base and baseless statement and to ensure they are punished."
