ADD President Bozkurt's statement on Kemalism: "A true Kemalist would not authorize those who take bribes in chocolate boxes"

The third 'Great Secular Republic Gathering in the 100th Year' was hosted by the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality.

The event, organized by the Atatürkist Thought Association (ADD), Birleşik Kamu-İş, the Association for Supporting Contemporary Living (ÇYDD), the Artists' Union, and Cumhuriyet Newspaper, began with a moment of silence and the National Anthem.

Throughout the event, where institutions were represented by İzmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer and his wife Neptün Soyer, ADD President Mustafa Hüsnü Bozkurt, Birleşik Kamu-İş Confederation President Mehmet Yeşildağ, and ÇYDD Vice President Sedat Durna, the slogan "Turkey is secular and will remain secular" was frequently chanted in the hall.

The most striking speech of the event was delivered by Atatürkist Thought Association President Hüsnü Bozkurt. Bozkurt stated, "The Republic of Turkey is a revolution, and this revolution has an ideology. The name of that ideology is 'Kemalism'. Kemalism is honor, Kemalism is morality, Kemalism is honesty, Kemalism is living by a morality that does not involve selling one's own company's detergent to the ministry while conducting state business. A true Atatürkist who believes in Kemalism would not grant the authority to represent this nation to people whose receipt of bribes in chocolate boxes is confirmed by camera footage. Kemalism is the ideology of our revolution. Kemalism is a set of principles. And the glue of those principles is secularism."

İzmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer also took the stage and repeated the speech he gave during last year's September 9th celebrations, which had been cited by the Ministry of Interior, by quoting from the Nutuk.

ADD President Bozkurt presented a certificate of appreciation to Soyer for his hospitality.
