AKP's Şamil Tayyar reacts to pro-government media's 'trustee' report: 'While appearing to support the government...'

CHP Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer has been arrested on allegations of being a “member of the PKK/KCK armed terrorist organization.”

Following Özer's arrest, Istanbul Deputy Governor Can Aksoy was appointed as a trustee to the Esenyurt Municipality.

Before the detention order for Özer was issued, the Sabah newspaper, known for its proximity to the government, put forward the claim that “The District Governor of Beşiktaş has been appointed as a trustee to the Esenyurt Municipality.”

Former AKP deputy Şamil Tayyar reacted to the media outlets close to the government in a post on his social media account.

Here is Tayyar's post:

“THEY CONTINUED THE LIE FOR A LONG TIME”

"What happened now? Last night, while the interrogation was still ongoing, some news channels created a perception with false reports that the Beşiktaş District Governor had been appointed to the Esenyurt Mayoralty. We said that as of that moment there was no such appointment, we warned them. They continued the lie for a long time.

“THEY ARE CAUSING THE GREATEST HARM TO THE GOVERNMENT”

Approximately 12 hours after those broadcasts that sabotaged the process, the Ministry of Interior announced just now that Deputy Governor Can Aksoy has been assigned to the Esenyurt Mayoralty. These news channels, which have committed similar errors before, need to get their act together. While appearing to support the government, they are causing the greatest harm to the government."
