Trustee administration begins duty at Esenyurt Municipality! 'Can Aksoy' post shared from official account

The Istanbul 7th Criminal Court of Peace has ordered the arrest of CHP Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer on charges of "being a member of the PKK/KCK armed terrorist organization."

Following Özer's arrest, a trustee was appointed to the Esenyurt Municipality.

The Ministry of Interior announced that Istanbul Deputy Governor Can Aksoy has been appointed as the Acting Mayor of Esenyurt in place of Özer.

It has been learned that the trustee administration has removed Özer's personal belongings and photographs from the office.

It was reported on the official X account of the Esenyurt Municipality that Can Aksoy has begun his duties.

The statement included the following: "Istanbul Deputy Governor Mr. Can AKSOY has begun his duties as the Acting Mayor of Esenyurt."

WHAT HAPPENED?

Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer was detained at his home yesterday morning.

In the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Terrorism and Organized Crime Investigation Bureau to identify the members and activities of the PKK/KCK terrorist organization, it was determined that Özer, for whom a detention warrant was issued, had committed the alleged crime by establishing an organic link with organization leaders in an intense and continuous manner, based on transcripts obtained through wiretapping, physical surveillance reports, and bank account movements.

Upon the request of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a search warrant was issued by the Istanbul Duty Criminal Court of Peace.

Following his statement at the prosecutor's office, Özer was referred to the duty criminal court of peace with a request for his arrest on charges of "being a member of the PKK/KCK armed terrorist organization."

Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer was subsequently arrested by the court on charges of "being a member of the PKK/KCK armed terrorist organization."
