Another femicide in Mersin: Woman killed in front of her child

Mersin’s Mezitli district, in the Kuyuluk neighborhood, was the scene of a horrific incident. According to allegations, an individual named U.A. arrived at the home of his girlfriend, Sonay Öztürk Aslan, with whom he had been in a relationship for some time.

Following an argument that broke out for reasons yet unknown, U.A. strangled Aslan to death.

The woman's body was discovered in the evening hours after her relatives became concerned and entered the home. 

Police teams arriving at the scene transferred Sonay Öztürk Aslan’s lifeless body to the Council of Forensic Medicine for an autopsy.

In the investigation conducted by the Homicide Bureau, it was determined that the suspect, U.A., had committed suicide with a handgun in his own home. 

Sonay Öztürk Aslan was laid to rest following the autopsy procedures.
