Barış Yarkadaş accuses Ekrem İmamoğlu of 'disloyalty'

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is running again in the local elections on March 31, 2024, has begun his election campaign.

Speaking at the candidate introduction meeting held at the Haliç Congress Center, İmamoğlu said, "We will win Istanbul again."

Journalist Barış Yarkadaş, who listened to İmamoğlu's speech, made a post on his social media account and criticized the fact that İmamoğlu did not mention the names of Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and Canan Kaftancıoğlu in his speech. 

Yarkadaş made the following post:

"I appreciate the services he has provided to Istanbul. I said this on TV 100 last night as well. I find him and his team successful and I believe he will win again. 

However, politics is a matter of loyalty as well as service.

In his speech lasting nearly 2 hours, İmamoğlu did not mention a single line about the 7th Chairman of the CHP, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who took every risk to make him a candidate. He refrained from even a simple thank you.  

While describing 5 years ago, İmamoğlu wrote a history as if he had become a candidate all by himself. Yet, İmamoğlu did not believe he would win and did not want to be a candidate. 

Despite this, Kılıçdaroğlu believed in İmamoğlu and made him a candidate. 

On the day his candidacy was announced, the then-Provincial Chair Canan Kaftancıoğlu and Kılıçdaroğlu were by his side in that hall. 

They were there in the subsequent processes as well. 

Today, their names are not even mentioned…

These attitudes will gain nothing for İmamoğlu and his team other than breaking hearts.
