Behind the scenes of the Nedim Baybaşin operation revealed
Details have emerged regarding the operation in Istanbul in which Nedim Baybaşin and 5 of his men were detained. It was learned that Baybaşin and his men were taken into custody in connection with an armed attack at a hotel where Osman G. and a foreign national, B.A., were shot.

Within the scope of the operation codenamed Kafes-18, announced by Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya, Nedim Baybaşin and 5 of his associates were detained by teams from the Istanbul Organized Crime Investigation Bureau.
It was learned that the operation was conducted in connection with an incident in Büyükçekmece, Istanbul, where hotel owner Osman G. and an Uzbek national, B.A., were shot and wounded over a plot of land set to be sold at auction for 42 million TL.
It is alleged that Osman G., who lost his land to foreclosure, wanted to enter the auction to reclaim it, and that Baybaşin and his men attempted to forcibly prevent him from doing so.
It was stated that Osman G., who was shot at his hotel, filed a complaint against his brother and Baybaşin in his statement following the incident.
'WITHDRAW YOUR COMPLAINT' THREAT
It was determined that the two individuals who were shot were also threatened to withdraw their complaints following the incident.
As a result of investigations conducted by organized crime police units, it was stated that the gang, allegedly led by Nedim Baybaşin, committed the crimes of "Intentional Injury with a Weapon" and "Threat and Extortion."
In the operation aimed at capturing eight suspects, Nedim Baybaşin and 5 of his men were detained.
During searches conducted at the addresses, 1 unlicensed pistol and 21 rounds of ammunition were seized.
