Search efforts initiated for 8-year-old Narin Güran, who went missing after leaving a Quran course on August 21 in the rural Tavşantepe neighborhood of Diyarbakır's Bağlar district, are continuing without interruption. Bloodstains discovered by relatives on rocks approximately 20 meters from the young girl's home brought a new dimension to the search efforts.
Gendarmerie teams took security measures at the scene and began investigations. Following the work of the crime scene investigation teams, it will be determined to whom the bloodstains belong.
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
After 8-year-old Narin Güran, who went missing around 15:00 on August 21 in the rural Tavşantepe neighborhood of the Bağlar district, could not be reached, her family applied to the authorities. Upon this, 112 Emergency Health, Gendarmerie Search and Rescue (JAK), AFAD, and Dicle University Search and Rescue (DÜAK) teams launched a large-scale search operation.
Divers within AFAD conducted a search operation in an area of approximately 20 kilometers in the irrigation canal to find the missing girl. Other search and rescue teams carried out a meticulous search of the neighborhood's surroundings, rocky areas, cotton and corn fields, abandoned areas, empty houses, barns, haylofts, and house gardens.
While gendarmerie teams are also searching vehicles entering and leaving the neighborhood, the young Narin's father and mother, Arif and Yüksel Güran, are waiting for good news about their daughter.
STATEMENT FROM THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE
In a statement made by the Governor's Office, it was reported that news and posts had been seen in some media outlets and social media accounts claiming that bloodstains belonging to the missing girl had been found on rocks in an area close to the home of Narin Güran, who is being sought as missing.
The statement noted the following:
"It has been determined that the bloodstain found on the rocks was caused by a nosebleed of a child who is a resident of the neighborhood. Under the coordination of our Governor's Office, through our relevant institutions, the search for our missing girl continues by evaluating every possibility. The public will be informed in a timely manner of any important developments."
