Narin missing for 3 days: 9,300 vehicles searched

8-year-old Narin Güran went missing on August 21 after leaving her Quran course in the rural Tavşantepe neighborhood of Diyarbakır's Bağlar district.

As the search for Narin, who has not been heard from since August 21, continues into its third day, a total of 9,300 vehicles, including those entering and leaving the neighborhood, have been checked so far.

HER FINAL FOOTAGE HAS EMERGED

Meanwhile, the final footage of Narin before she went missing has emerged. The footage from August 21 at 15:15 shows Narin walking with 4 of her friends before separating from them and heading toward her home using the hill path.

MINISTER YERLİKAYA SPOKE WITH NARİN'S FATHER

Diyarbakır Governor Murat Zorluoğlu, Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Major General Selçuk Yıldırım, Sur District Governor Asım Solak, and Hazro Mayor Fuat Mehmetoğlu visited the family yesterday. During the visit, Governor Zorluoğlu called Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya and had him speak with Narin's father, Arif Güran. Güran thanked Minister Yerlikaya for his support in the search efforts for his daughter.

9,300 VEHICLES SEARCHED

The search for Narin continues on its 3rd day. JAK and AFAD teams are continuing their work in the irrigation canal where the water level has been lowered. Searches were conducted along a 20-kilometer stretch of the canal starting from the neighborhood. In the area where the search has been expanded, other teams are continuing their efforts in the region, which consists mostly of cornfields. A total of 9,300 vehicles, including those entering and leaving the neighborhood, have been searched to date. The family, who suspects their daughter may have been abducted, continues their anxious wait.

WHAT HAPPENED?

When Narin Güran did not return home after her Quran course, her family conducted a search on their own. When the search with the villagers yielded no results, Narin's father, Arif Güran, went to the police station at 20:15 in the evening to report his daughter as missing.

Following the report, the Bağlar District Gendarmerie Command, Bağlar Public Order Commando Company Command, Gendarmerie Special Operations Teams, Gendarmerie Crime Investigation Teams (JASAT), Intelligence Branch Directorate, Dog Tracking Team, and Underwater Search and Rescue Team, as well as health, AFAD, Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Underwater Search teams, and search and rescue teams from district municipalities were dispatched to the region.

A gendarmerie helicopter also provided aerial support for the operations. Additionally, approximately 150 vehicles identified as passing through the area at the time Narin went missing were questioned. Houses in the neighborhood and vehicles entering the village were searched. During the search efforts, a child's slipper was found on the side of the road on the night of August 22. The slipper, found approximately 3 kilometers from the Güran family's home, was shown to Narin's mother and father. The couple stated that the slipper belonged to their daughter. The slipper was taken to a laboratory by the gendarmerie for examination. However, the family later stated that the slipper size was different from Narin's.
