Journalist Fatih Altaylı reacted to Dilan Polat gaining 250,000 new followers on Instagram after Engin Polat and other defendants, who were being tried with a request for up to 40 years in prison for money laundering and tax crimes, were acquitted.
Altaylı criticized the situation in harsh terms in a statement he made via social media.
SOCIETAL DECAY
Altaylı said, "More shameful than the release of vulgar money launderers is that Dilan Polat gained 250,000 new followers on Instagram that day. Worse than political disgrace and judicial corruption is societal decay."
Emphasizing that social degeneration cannot be solved solely through political changes, Altaylı stated, "The former can be solved in a short time with a change of government, but societal decay will continue to have its effect even after this government changes."
