Fatih Altaylı to Hafize Gaye Erkan: 'You have tens of millions of dollars in savings'

Central Bank Governor Hafize Gaye Erkan made statements regarding the rental crisis in Turkey.

Erkan said, "There is an increase in rents unique to Turkey. Our President and Vice President are also focusing heavily on this issue. One person should not have 10 houses; 10 people should have one house.

Housing and food are very important. Our state solved the health issue a long time ago. Can Istanbul be more expensive than Manhattan? We couldn't find a house in Istanbul. It's incredibly expensive. We moved in with my parents; we are staying with them," she said.

Journalist Fatih Altaylı made a notable comment following these remarks by Central Bank Governor Hafize Gaye Erkan.

'THE MAIN ISSUE...'

Altaylı stated, "The issue is not that the Central Bank Governor, who is said to have a salary of 160 thousand TL, says rents in Istanbul are expensive. The issue is an international banker with tens of millions of dollars in savings finding Istanbul expensive."
