Former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has harshly criticized the remarks made by Numan Kurtulmuş regarding Article 3 of the Constitution.

While current CHP Chairman Özgür Özel remained silent, former Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu told Kurtulmuş, "Your concern is not the constitution; your concern is to engage in separatism."

Attending the opening ceremony of the 2024-2025 Academic Year at Gazi University on October 10, Kurtulmuş stated that the phrase "the indivisible integrity of the state with its territory and nation" should be changed, saying, "The state does not have a territory. The state does not have a nation. This text should be expressed as 'the indivisible integrity of the nation with its state and territory.' I believe it is important to reconsider this elitist, statist understanding in the new constitution with a state concept that rises upon the power of the nation."

While many figures reacted to his remarks regarding Article 3 of the Constitution, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel did not express any opinion on the matter during a meeting he attended today.

Former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, however, reacted to the words of Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş in a post shared on his X account. Kılıçdaroğlu criticized him sharply, saying, "Opening to debate an article of the constitution that 'cannot even be proposed to be changed' is separatism. Your concern is not the constitution or anything of the sort."
