An appeal has been filed against the reduced sentence given in the case of the cat Eros, who was tortured to death by İbrahim Keloğlan.
In the incident that took place in Küçükçekmece and was recorded by security cameras, İbrahim Keloğlan had been sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison for the cat massacre.
However, this decision sparked a major public outcry and was appealed by lawyers.
According to the report in BirGün, the Public Prosecutor stated in a letter sent to the court on March 18 that the decision would be appealed.
In the petition, the prosecutor emphasized that the decision contained issues contrary to procedure and the law, and therefore stated that the decision should be overturned.
İbrahim Keloğlan, who killed Eros by kicking him for minutes, had drawn significant public backlash. Journalist Fatih Altaylı had called on everyone to share Keloğlan's photo, saying, "We must absolutely not let this person be forgotten."
