Hitman in Sinan Ateş murder was taken to the border in an official vehicle

Following the murder committed in Ankara on December 30, 2022, a vehicle containing Tolgahan Demirbaş, a central executive of the Ülkü Ocakları, and Emre Yüksel, the private secretary to the Ülkü Ocakları President—both defendants in the case—brought the hitman Eray Özyağcı to Istanbul.

It has emerged that the vehicle with license plate 06 AT 5021, used by Ülkü Ocakları President Ahmet Yiğit Yıldırım and identified in the indictment as a black Audi, was also in the region near the border during the time the hitman Özyağcı was attempting to flee to Greece.

"I GOT INTO THE BACK SEAT"

In his statement, which is also included in the indictment, Özyağcı stated that a light-colored vehicle picked him up immediately after committing the murder and said, "I know the driver of this vehicle and who he is, but I do not want to say." Later, stating that the same person came to pick him up in another vehicle, Özyağcı said he got into the back seat and they headed toward Istanbul.

"I DON'T WANT TO CAUSE TROUBLE"

According to the report by Can Bursalı from Sözcü, when asked, "Why won't you give a name?" Özyağcı replied, "I don't want to cause trouble for anyone," and then stated that the vehicle did not stop until it reached Istanbul and dropped him off in a wooded area. However, when the vehicle's License Plate Recognition System (PTS) records are examined, it is understood that it stopped in Bolu, went to Istanbul, returned to Bolu, and then set off again to go to Istanbul.

CAUGHT IN EDIRNE

Özyağcı, who claimed in his statement that he was hiding in a wooded area, said he set out from the Aydos forest by taxi to go to Greece. Eray Özyağcı, who was caught in Edirne 38 days after committing the murder, alleged that he 'crossed the Greek border but was beaten by Greek security forces and pushed back across the border.'

SEEN IN THE REGION NEAR THE BORDER

When the PTS records of the vehicle that transported him from Ankara to Istanbul are examined during the period when Özyağcı, who was caught on February 6, 2023, was crossing the Greek border, it is seen that activity began on February 3.

The vehicle, which turned out to be used by Ülkü Ocakları President Ahmet Yiğit Yıldırım and is registered to the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), set off from Ankara on February 3 and arrived in Istanbul. According to PTS records, the vehicle exited the toll booths in the Çorlu district of Tekirdağ on February 4. The vehicle, which used the toll booths in Silivri the next day, returned to Ankara on the evening of February 5.

It drew attention that the vehicle that brought Ateş's killer, Özyağcı, from Ankara to Istanbul was seen in the region near the border during the time Özyağcı was trying to flee abroad.
