Sinan Ateş sent this message to his close friend: 'Talk to Mr. İsmet...'

Sözcü columnist İsmail Saymaz has written an article drawing attention to messages that were included in the indictment regarding the Sinan Ateş murder.

"THEY ARE CONSTANTLY TENSIONING THE ENVIRONMENT"

According to Saymaz, in one message, Sinan Ateş told his close friend Ömer Çağrı Özdemir, to whom he had sent a photo of a vehicle that had come in front of his office, "Talk to Mr. İsmet. I don't want blood to be shed." Six days after this correspondence, Ateş messaged Ömer Çağrı Özdemir again, saying, "They have decided to kill me, Ömer brother. They are constantly tensioning the environment."

MESSAGES SENT BEFORE HIS DEATH

The indictment for the murder of former Idealist Hearths President Sinan Ateş, who was killed in Ankara on December 30, 2022, was only prepared last week. T24 reporter Asuman Aranca had most recently reached footage showing that Ateş's hitman, Eray Özyağcı, was whisked away in a vehicle with flashing lights by former Idealist Hearths executives Tolgahan Demirbaş and Emre Yüksel. The indictment, which took exactly 17 months to prepare, was considered incomplete by many politicians, legal experts, and journalists, especially by Ateş's family. One of the pieces of information alleged to have not been included in the case file was the messages Ateş sent before he died.

"I DON'T WANT BLOOD TO BE SHED..."

The correspondence shared by Saymaz is as follows:

Ateş: Ankara Hearths sent four armed people. We weren't at the office.

Özdemir: To the office?

Ateş: Yes, when the guys went down, they walked away. 06 AT 2020. We had bought that vehicle. Talk to Mr. İsmet. I don't want blood to be shed.

Özdemir: Okay. I'm sending the license plate and the vehicle now.

(The person Ateş refers to as "Mr. İsmet" is MHP Deputy Chairman and Bursa MP İsmet Büyükataman, whom he served as an advisor to before his presidency of the Idealist Hearths.)

Six days after the first correspondence... March 16, 2022. Ateş tells Özdemir that they have decided to kill him. The correspondence is as follows:

Ateş: They have decided to kill me, Ömer brother. They are constantly tensioning the environment.

Özdemir: Is it that easy?

Ateş: They are sending word here and there, they are calling.

Özdemir: Damn it!

Ateş: A dog that doesn't know how to bark brings wolves to the flock. They want new people to die.

Özdemir: Don't worry about it, chief, they are frauds.

Ateş: That's true. Chief, they are inciting 18-19-year-old kids. They sent a team to Cahit (Former Bursa Idealist Hearths President Cahit Özdemir). If what happened in Mersin happens in Bursa... God forbid."

ÖZDEMİR SUBMITTED THE CORRESPONDENCE TO THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE

Özdemir, who was Ateş's secretary general during his presidency of the Idealist Hearths, submitted the correspondence to the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on May 5, 2023. In his statement, Özdemir said the following regarding the vehicle with license plate 06 AT 2020:

"He conveyed that the vehicle with license plate 06 AT 2020 had come in front of the office belonging to lawyer Ali Yücel, which he also used, that it was noticed by Ç.B., that there were four armed people in the vehicle, and that the individuals left the scene after noticing Ç.B."

Pointing to Ateş's message saying, "They have decided to kill me, Ömer brother," Özdemir said:

"He clearly informed me that they were trying to kill him and that they were planning it. He stated to me that a team had been sent to Cahit Özdemir in Bursa, just as one had been sent to Çağrı Ünel in Mersin, and that he was worried that new people could die as a result of such turmoil."
