Ministry of Trade announces: 22.5 kilograms of methamphetamine seized at Ambarlı Port

Customs Enforcement teams from the Ministry of Trade have seized 22.5 kilograms of methamphetamine in a container at Istanbul's Ambarlı Port.

According to the statement made by the Ministry, containers brought to Turkey using Ambarlı Port were subjected to risk analysis, and detailed checks were carried out on those deemed suspicious.

Teams directed a container loaded with dates to an X-ray scan. The container, in which suspicious density was detected in its cargo, was taken to the port area.

SUSPICIOUS SUBSTANCE DETECTED

As a result of detailed searches, which also involved the use of narcotics detector dogs, a suspicious substance was detected in some of the boxes loaded with dates.

Following testing of the sampled substance, it was determined to be methamphetamine.

1 PERSON DETAINED

While 22.5 kilograms of methamphetamine were seized in the incident, 1 person was detained.

The Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the incident.
