Record fine from the Ministry of Trade for exorbitant price hikes
The Ministry of Trade held the 35th meeting of the Unfair Price Evaluation Board as part of its fight against exorbitant price hikes and hoarding. At the meeting, it was decided to impose an administrative fine of 55,869,477 TL on businesses selling bread above the price tariff.
The Ministry of Trade has taken a significant step against businesses selling bread above the price tariff through the Unfair Price Evaluation Board. As a result of the 35th meeting of the Unfair Price Evaluation Board held on January 19, 2024, the irregularities detected during inspections of businesses selling bread in violation of the tariff were addressed.
At the meeting, it was decided to impose a total administrative fine of 55,869,477 TL on businesses selling bread above the determined price tariff. This step has come to the fore as one of the measures taken within the scope of the fight against unfair pricing and hoarding.
