Sinan Ateş murder trial: Ruling issued for 12 defendants
The trial of the detained defendants in the murder of former Ülkü Ocakları President Sinan Ateş will continue on September 30 at the Ankara 32nd High Criminal Court. The court has decided to keep 12 defendants in custody.

Former Ülkü Ocakları President and Hacettepe University faculty member Sinan Ateş lost his life following an armed attack in the Çukurambar neighborhood of Ankara's Çankaya district on December 30, 2022.
The trial of the 12 defendants arrested during the investigation into the murder will continue on September 30 at the Sincan Prison Campus by the Ankara 32nd High Criminal Court.
In the hearing held in July, defendants Mehmet Yüce, Erdem Karadeniz, Osman Bayraktar, Zekeriya Asarkaya, Hakan Saraç, Ufuk Köktürk, Aytaç Ataç, Caner Günay, Umut Ersoy and Alper Atay were released.
In the detention review conducted by the Ankara 32nd High Criminal Court on September 13, it was stated that the defendants Eray Özyağcı, Vedat Balkaya, Suat Kurt, Doğukan Çep, Tolgahan Demirbaş, Aşkın Mert Gelenbey, Murat Can Çolak, Mustafa Uzunlar, Çağlar Zorlu, Serdar Öktem, Emre Yüksel and Mustafa Ensar Aykal would remain in custody, citing the nature of the crimes, evidence creating strong suspicion of guilt, concrete facts indicating a risk of hiding or fleeing, and the fact that they are charged with crimes listed under Article 100/3 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CMK).
