Following the testimony given in court by Doğukan Çep, who is being tried on charges of being the instigator of the Sinan Ateş assassination, lawyers for the Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) had filed a criminal complaint against Çep.

Çep had confessed that after shooting DHKP-C members in Gümüşsuyu, he went to the ESP association and massacred 10 people, and later recounted that they had also killed Hasan Ferit Gedik.

NON-PROSECUTION FOR CONFESSION

In a statement made from the ESP's social media account, it was announced that the Prosecutor's Office had issued a decision of non-prosecution regarding the criminal complaint.

“The nationalist fascist Doğukan Çep, who is being tried as a defendant in the Sinan Ateş murder case, said 'I shot the ESP members on behalf of the state' while explaining the crimes he committed on behalf of the state during the hearing held between July 1-5 before the Ankara 32nd High Criminal Court panel. Due to these confessions by Doğukan Çep, we had filed a new criminal complaint regarding the attacks that took place against our Party in Istanbul's Gülsuyu neighborhood in 2013 and requested that a trial be initiated against Çep. The Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office decided that 'there is no room for prosecution due to the investigation being duplicative.' However, the fascist hitman Çep's recent open confessions had not been the subject of a trial. We had said that we know and recognize these hitmen, the crimes they committed, and those who protect and exonerate them with a shield of impunity. It has been confirmed once again that the fascist gangs that organize attacks against our party, our comrades, and revolutionaries are under state protection and are shielded by a cloak of impunity. We have not bowed to fascist terror, and we will not. We will continue to expose the crimes, the criminals, and their patrons. We will not allow fascist attacks to be covered up with impunity.”

WHAT DID DOĞUKAN ÇEP SAY?

Stating that it was not him but someone next to him who shot Hasan Ferit Gedik, Çep argued that he received an unfair sentence and spent 2 years in prison. In the subsequent process, he said that they went to the ESP association and shot 10 people, and that Ayşe Deniz Karacagil was also wounded there. Çep had claimed that the people they shot and attacked were terrorists, and that two of these individuals died in the Suruç Massacre.
