The harsh criticisms directed at Israel by President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the Great Palestine Rally held in Istanbul today were met with equally swift responses from the Israeli side.
Following Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen's statement, "I have ordered the recall of diplomatic representatives from Turkey to conduct a re-evaluation of Israel-Turkey relations in light of the harsh statements coming from Turkey," many Israeli officials reacted toward Turkey.
'KEFFIYEH' STATEMENT
Israeli Energy Minister Israel Katz stated that Erdoğan had "revealed his true face" at the mass rally held in Istanbul today, saying, "The Muslim Brotherhood man supports Hamas-ISIS terror. Even his keffiyeh (the folded cloth Arabs wear on their heads) cannot cover this shame."
Israel's UN Ambassador Gilad Erdan, meanwhile, remarked about Erdoğan, "A snake will remain a snake." Speaking to Israel Army Radio, Erdan said, "[Erdoğan] tried to improve his image but continues his antisemitism."
