Political parties to receive 6 billion 682 million in 2024 due to local elections
According to the Law on Political Parties, state aid is provided to parties that exceeded the 7 percent threshold in the last general elections at a rate of 2 in 5,000 of general budget revenues.

The amount of aid is distributed in proportion to the number of votes the parties received in the last general election. This amount is paid 3 times higher during general election periods and 2 times higher in years when local elections are held.
Since local elections will also be held next year, the aid will be increased by 2 times and paid as 6 billion 682 million liras.
According to the report in Sözcü, the amount of state aid to be provided to political parties from the Treasury has been finalized. According to the 2024 budget bill data, 3 billion 341 million liras in state aid will be provided next year to the 5 political parties that exceeded the 7 percent threshold.
The AKP will once again receive the lion's share of the aid. Before the election, 2 billion 638 million liras will enter the AKP's coffers.
From the state aid, 1 billion 898 million liras will be paid to the CHP, 749 million 910 thousand TL to the MHP, 739 million 731 thousand to the İYİ Party, and 656 million 337 thousand liras to the Green Left Party.
ADDITIONAL MONEY WILL BE PAID
By law, 3 billion 341 million liras in normal aid will be provided to the parties. Since local elections will be held next March, an additional 3 billion 341 million liras will be paid to these parties.
Thus, the total payment will reach 6 billion 682 million liras.
A total of 5 billion 25 million liras had been paid to political parties this year, with 1 billion 475 million liras in January and 3 billion 550 million liras in March before the general elections.
The AKP had received the largest amount of aid with 2 billion 183 million liras.
TWO PARTIES MISSED IT BY A HAIR
By law, in addition to parties that exceeded the 7 percent threshold, parties that received 3 percent or more of the vote in the last elections also benefit from the aid.
However, since no party other than the 5 parties that qualified for the main aid in the last general election exceeded 3 percent, no payment will be made to other parties.
The parties that came closest to qualifying for aid were the New Welfare Party (YRP) and the Victory Party (Zafer Partisi). If the YRP, which received 1.5 million votes, had been able to receive 73 thousand 110 more votes, it would have received approximately 215 million liras, and if the Victory Party had been able to receive 380 thousand more votes, it would have been able to receive 170 million liras in Treasury aid.
