Akşener issues 'local election' warning to MPs
It is alleged that İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener warned her MPs, saying, "We will enter the elections in all 81 provinces alone; do not make statements that will create a false perception."
Sözcü columnist Aytunç Erkin wrote that İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener told İYİ Party MPs following a Presidential Council meeting, "Friends, we will enter the elections in all 81 provinces alone. My request to you is that when you appear on television channels or speak to newspapers, you do not make comments that could be understood differently from this decision. The General Administrative Board has made a decision, and we will be on our own. For this reason, no one should make statements that could be perceived incorrectly."
Erkin stated that during the meeting in question, the MPs also relayed information from provincial and district organizations, saying that they stood behind the decision to enter the elections in all 81 provinces alone.
Erkin expressed the view, "If Özgür Özel wins at the CHP congress, the situation could change. The İYİ Party General Administrative Board could take a new decision, and based on this, the cards in politics could be reshuffled."
